Summer has officially arrived at the Orlando International Airport, and millions of travelers are in for a big treat. The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority held a press conference today to unveil new content for their massive video wall canvas, which Synect helped launch in September of 2016, and provide their latest summer travel estimates. Click Orlando reports that more than a million passengers will pass through MCO between now and July 8 in a video that features the video wall and new content.

Our latest team building exercise literally elevated our vision—taking us 50 feet up the air at Tacoma’s Northwest Trek. Our growing group of video wall experts spent the day traversing through the park’s Adventure Course—an outdoor obstacle course including a 30-foot rock wall, zip lines, high wires and more. It was scary, it was fun, it was an adventure, and we did it together.

The Planar® LookThru™ Series is a new line of transparent, interactive Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) displays. The LookThru OLED, which comes in 55-inch panels, looks like lightly tinted glass capable of presenting unbelievably vivid digital media on top of real world scenes and objects. The displays can be tiled together to create video walls, and they can also be configured into custom retail merchandising enclosures and displays.

Fallen police officer Doug Barney was mourned by thousands in his Salt Lake City-area community earlier this year. Friends of the family and community organizers for the Microsoft Store recently organized a special event for Officer Barney’s son, Jack Barney, a 13-year old boy who loves Star Wars, Halo, and video games.

Microsoft has launched a flagship store in Australia—its second flagship this month and the first one outside of North America. Just like their new flagship on Fifth Avenue, Microsoft is betting on new devices and services to bring customers to the Sydney flagship, while placing major emphasis on video walls and innovative digital experience to engage those customers at their latest retail locations.

Harvest Week is an annual Synect tradition leading up to Halloween. The brainchild of HR Manager Shelley Yohn, Harvest Week is five days of apple bobbing, costume contests, and other shenanigans in the spirit of Halloween.
Things got a little bit competitive with our pumpkin painting contest, which resulted in a four way tie between the studio’s Marcos Guevara and Alex Abuan and the Digital Media Technology Team’s Glenn Suboc and Robin Scher.

Microsoft launched its first flagship store this week in New York. The world was watching as Microsoft’s flagship store opened its doors on Fifth Avenue to an eager, waiting crowd. Just like the first Microsoft Store, which opened in tandem with the 2009 launch of Windows 7, the Fifth Avenue flagship opened on the launch date of the new Surface Book and Surface Pro 4.

There’s a war being fought in the world of multi display video walls. The war on bezels—driven by the demands of video wall operators who want more immersive, impactful digital canvases—has seen the industry standards shrink from over five millimeters, to around three millimeters, and now to under two millimeters.

In late 2014, Microsoft and Synect won a digital signage industry award for an immersive digital retail experience at the Microsoft Stores. The Titanfall Video Wall Experience debuted at the stores in March to promote the launch of the award-winning video game title. One of the year’s most anticipated releases, Titanfall was released at the Microsoft Stores with a series of midnight launches—and more than ten minutes of original digital content allowing customers to experience and the play the game on the store’s massive video walls.
