Adobe Character Animator combines live motion-capture with multi-track recording to control layered 2D puppets drawn in Photoshop or Illustrator. Simply put, it’s a magical way to bring characters to life, and it has gotten a little more magical with original work from Synect Creative Director Ryan Boyle.
By day, Ryan works out of Synect’s Orlando studio, creating stunning massive-scale digital media and experience for clients like the Orlando International Airport and Microsoft. By night, he creates hordes of adorable and original characters that can be seen on his website sketchypictures.com.
Previously in beta, Adobe Character Animator is a next-generation addition to Adobe’s Creative Cloud, which was announced at Max 2017 last week.
Ryan’s Wendigo character is featured as a template puppet, and several of his characters appear in this tutorial video:
Frames are below.
This isn’t Ryan’s first time contributing his talents to Adobe’s innovative products. A demo of the app when it was still in beta and known as Project Animal features a friendly person he created. That demo can be seen here.
We’re proud of Ryan’s amazing talent, and we’re can’t wait to see what he does next with Adobe’s latest tools. Follow us on social media to see more work as it is created at Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or on Instagram.
